South Park, PA (April 29, 2009) Keith Barbara and the Forbes Field Motorsports team have not have the best of starts to this 2009 racing season but Keith and the FFM team have their sights set on much brighter days ahead.
“The car has been much better than our finishes show,” Barbara said from his shop in Pittsburgh. Keith has had his new Lazer Chassis out five times so far this season but has only finished one race, a sixth place finish at Lernerville Speedway on April 24th. “This car just drives different than what I am used to,” Keith said, “I like the feel of the car, I like how it drives, I just need to adjust to it. Once we get some smoother tracks out there so we stop blowing out shocks, we’ll be able to test more and hopefully get things right.” Barbara continued, “We’re actually pretty close on our setups, I think all we need is more track time and things will start to get better for us.”
Keith and the FFM team had full intentions on competing with the O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series this season but a bit of misfortune during the inaugural event at Lernerville kept the team from traveling to K-C Raceway the following day. “It just took us too long to get the car back together after Lernerville,” Barbara proclaimed. “It’s a shame because we were really looking forward to competing for the All Star championship. We’ll still hit a majority of their shows but with already missing an event, it’ll be too hard to catch the point leaders.”
Barbara continued to talk about the remainder of the 2009 season. “We want to get out as much as we can; just like anyone else out there the money is tight so we have to race and travel smart. We’ll do most, if not all of the bigger shows in the area and still try to race at different places throughout the season.”
Keith was also highlighted on Don Gamble’s ‘Rappin’ on Racin’ this past Monday and can be found on www.speedwayproductions.biz and clicking the ‘Internet Broadcast’ link.
Keith and the Forbes Field Motorsports team will be in action this Friday, May 1 at Lernerville Speedway for their regular show and then again at ‘The Action Track’ on Tuesday, May 5th for the $10,000 to win, World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned ‘Showdown in Sarvertown’.
