South Park, PA (May 2, 2007) Keith Barbara and Forbes Field Motorsports set sail this past Friday for the first ever Independent Racing Series (IRS) event at the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH and also made his first appearance in the Floyd Lockart owned, Lias Tire/E&M Motors/Townsend Gas & Oil/Edge Racing Engines/Warrior Chassis #4 at Challenger Raceway on Sunday.
After a disappointing trip to North Carolina the team was hoping for some better luck for their trip to Ohio. Keith qualified his Triangle Benefits Services/Potoka Trucking/Forbes Field Garage/RanGroup Racing Tours/Rocket Chassis GTO 15th out of the 45-car field and finished 3rd in his heat behind Steve Shaver and Ohio up comer Ben Adkins. “We had a solid car, with a few adjustments I think we could have been better,” mentioned Keith on his 3rd place finish. As the cars entered the racing surface for the B-Main, it started to rain and didn’t quit. Series officials were forced to postpone the event until this Friday, May 4th.
On Sunday climbed into the Floyd Lockart owned, Lias Tire/E&M Motors/Townsend Gas & Oil/Edge Racing Engines/Warrior Chassis #4 on Sunday at Challenger Raceway for the $5,000 to win ‘Spring Fest’. “The car was good but I just wasn’t comfortable in it yet,” Keith said about his first time driving the Lockart owned car. Keith was unable to qualify for the main event but is optimistic about the opportunity to drive for Mr. Lockart. “We’ll get some things straightened out, we’ll be better next time out.”
This weekend Forbes Field Motorsports will return to action on Friday, May 4th at Hilltop Speedway to finish the rain delayed ‘IRS’ sanctioned event from April 27th. On Saturday the team will travel to Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV for the $4,000 to win, ‘Topless 50’.
